YOGA TABLEAUX: a professional development ZOOM or LIVE workshop

Educators will receive techniques in how to use yoga practices and          drama procedures to bring stories to life. These techniques will                demonstrate new ways to increase body awareness, sharpen            attention and concentration,  Sessions will also provide information about nature, as well as using yoga for storytelling and fun! 

 

PLAY, THEN WRITE: Dramatic Activities to facilitate the pre-writing process

(Suitable for Teachers of Grades 2-8) Whether retelling, sequencing, predicting, creating or problem solving, PLAY, then WRITE! will give you theatrical tools to help all kinds of learners write. Examine ways to physicalize literary structure, bring it to life, and translate that physicality onto the page with graphic organizers. Then, discover how you can lead these dramatic activities to help your students write, as well as use rubrics to assess the performed and written creations. 3-hour session. Limited to no less than 10 and no more than 30 participants. No previous experience required.

ACT-ive LISTENING: Drama/Theatre Activities To Enhance Listening Comprehension

(Suitable for Teachers of Grades 2-8) A variety of strategies can enhance listening comprehension. ACTive Listening will provide rules; tools and ideas to enhance teacher’s presentation style engage the students as well as techniques to improve student focus, attention and responses to oral presentations and visual media. Journey through the importance of listening learn to model drama activities with students to facilitate their listening skills. No previous experience is required. Customizable for 1 to 2.5-hours. Limited to no less than 10 and no more than 30 participants. No previous experience required.

LITERACY PARTY!

(Suitable for Teachers of Grades K-3)   Explore drama, music and movement techniques that help participants  discover how to bring a book to life and encourage student participation while teaching cultural, social studies and science concepts (Concepts can include foreign  language,  animals, insects, habitats, geography, etc.) One and a half hour session.  Limited to no less than 10 and no more than 30 participants. No previous experience required.

MAKE AN ARTS INTEGRATED LITERACY KIT

(Suitable for Teachers of Grades K-8) A Literacy Kit is a bundle of books and activities to use in a classroom to enhance and extend reading. Most of the materials for completing the activities are located in the kit along with directions and a materials list. Learn how to make an arts integrated kit for your classroom, library or to share with your colleagues. Discover fun arts activities to include in your kit. Bring a book appropriate for your grade level and start making one during this session. 1-hour session. Limited to no less than 10 and no more than 30 participants. No previous experience required.

READERS’ THEATRE IN THE CLASSROOM WITH POETRY 

(Suitable for Teachers of Grades 3-12) Readers’ Theater is a method suggested in just about every Language Arts textbook printed; this is the workshop that will give you an in-depth look at how to effectively use Readers’ Theater to enhance reading and writing skills with poetry. 2 and a half-hour session. Limited to no less than 10 and no more than 30 participants. No previous experience required.

TALKING TABLEAUX:  POETRY & DRAMA TO LIFE FOR READING COMPREHENSION

(Suitable for Teachers of Grades 1-6) Tableaux are a series of living still pictures. Students will discover the skills needed to work in a group forming a series of pictures that aid in reading comprehension. 1 and a half-hour session. Limited to no less than 10 and no more than 30 participants. No previous experience required.

MICROAGRESSIONS:  Unintentional Insensitivity

(Suitable for Teachers of Grades 5-12) Robin Pease lets you put her in a box as a means to examine stereotypes and discover that “you can’t tell a book by its cover”. Participants then have the opportunity to ask questions, discuss, and investigate race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, and disability by acting out and discussing famous movie scenes. Finally, discover ways to explore diversity right in your own backyard. Then use the scenes in your classroom to stimulate discussion! 1-hour to 1-hour 30 minutes depending on enrollment. Limited to no less than 10 and no more than 30 participants. No previous experience required.

STORYBOARD!

(Suitable for Teachers of Grades 3-12)This session will enable participants to discover dramatic literary structure and the cinematic way to retell, sequence or create original stories using the graphic organizers of “STORYBOARD” and “COMIC BOOK.”  Participants will demonstrate listening strategies, discuss the basic rudiments of dramatic literary structure, articulate the dramatic and visually artistic elements of Graphic Organizers and discover how to create a play script that can be used for Readers Theatre or performance. 3  hour session. Limited to no less than 10 and no more than 30 participants. No previous experience required.

 

SHOWCASE!

Want to showcase the work your students have been doing throughout the year? Work with our artist to develop a theatre piece or use our prepared script and insert your curriculum. Then, direct the show yourself or use our artist for the rehearsals. Finally, perform the showcase for another class, parents or assembly and “WOW” everyone as they actually see all the wonderful learning that has been going on in your classroom.
